Education Law
Shauna Cunningham represents school districts in every aspect of education law. She emphasizes a cost-effective and proactive approach to managing legal disputes, which is appreciated by Districts that must be good stewards of taxpayer resources. She has represented Districts in all types of legal matters, including:
- personnel matters
- employee investigations
- board governance and advising
- collective bargaining
- general legal compliance
- special education
- general student matters, including discipline
Shauna has successfully negotiated complicated collective bargaining agreements – up to and including fact-finding. She has assisted Districts in sensitive and complicated investigations involving alleged employee misconduct. She also has successfully defended Districts in administrative investigations from agencies such as Department of Housing and Employment, California Department of Education, and others.
Shauna is an expert in special education due process matters. She has resolved countless special education disputes on favorable terms, and has successfully represented Districts in special education matters that taken to hearing before the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) and appealed to federal courts.
Shauna also conducts frequent training presentations to assist Districts in legal compliance.
